In August 2025 I went on a photographic cruise of the Kimberley Coast on the Discovery 1 catamaran, led by photographers Steve Parish and Glenn Smith. Everything about this adventure was wonderful, from the skill and local knowledge of the Skipper, Simon, to the way the crew looked after us, the beautiful food and the camaraderie that developed amongst the 20 photographic enthusiasts on board. Over 11 days we explored this ancient and untouched wilderness in the ex Sydney Harbour Manly Ferry and travelling by tender through rivers and creeks to witness the amazing landscape, flora and fauna that have lived there for thousands of years. On the final day we flew by chopper over the Mitchell Falls and then back to Broome in a fixed-wing aircraft, flying over many of the areas that we`d visited in the boat. Thanks to Discovery 1 for what was truly the trip of a lifetime.
